China Southern Power Grid Guangdong company recently announced that its intelligent inspection robot has been put into use, which is expected to realize 24-hour monitoring of substation, which will improve the intelligent level of power system. The first robot to be put into use began to "go to work" at the 500 kV Wolong substation in Yunfu of Guangdong power grid on November 4.

Yang Yingyi, head of the artificial intelligence technology group of the robot division of Guangdong Energy Technology Co., Ltd. of China Southern Power Grid, said that the robot will automatically detect the relevant lines and read the data, replacing the traditional manual inspection, as long as the inspection points and routes are set up in advance and the inspection task is given by one key in the main control room.

Patrol inspection is an important guarantee for substation operation safety, which is divided into routine patrol inspection and special patrol inspection. Routine inspection should be conducted once a month or once a quarter; For special inspection, more frequent cycle is set according to specific demand, such as once a day in special power supply period. A substation involves more than 1000 inspection points, which usually takes two workers six or seven working hours to complete.

"With the rapid development of economy, the scale of power grid is becoming larger and larger, the number of power transmission and transformation equipment is also increasing, and the contradiction between inspection demand and manpower is becoming more and more prominent. How to improve the level of intelligence and reduce human investment has become a new challenge to ensure the safety of power supply. " Yang Yingyi said.

In recent years, robots have been introduced into the field of electric power inspection, replacing manual to complete part of the automatic inspection work. However, due to the influence of complex background, light conditions and other factors, the traditional image recognition methods for instrument recognition have low detection and recognition accuracy.

"The newly developed intelligent inspection robot uses AI algorithm to greatly improve the accuracy of equipment image recognition. Because the robot inspection is limited by time, weather and other factors, it makes it possible for the substation robot to realize 24-hour full day monitoring. " Yang Yingyi said,

Yang Yingyi believes that the popularization, application and empowerment of intelligent inspection robot can effectively promote the unmanned development of substation inspection. In the future, we will continue to apply intelligent robots to power transmission line inspection to promote intelligent power inspection, which will also help to improve the power security level of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Dawan district.
